The aim of the present study was to screen the antidiabetic potential of the ischolar_main of Sida cordifolia linn. In the present study, ischolar_main of Sida cordifolia linn was screened for antidiabetic activity. Root powder of Sida cordifolia was subjected to hot continuous extraction (soxhlet) with various solvents like petroleum ether, (40-600° C), chloroform, butanol, butanone and alcohol. Aqueous extract was prepared by cold maceration. After preliminary phytochemical investigation, all the extracts were evaluated for anti diabetic activity after single dose (acute study) and after prolonged treatment (chronic study in alloxan induced diabetic albino rats. Al thel extracts were given orally at a dose of 250mg/Kg b.w. Glibenclamide was used as standard drug (10mg/Kg b.w. P.o). Alcohol butonal, Chloroform, aqueous and butanone showed significant antidiabetic activity in acute as well as prolonged treatment compared to control. Petrolium ether extract did not show significant anti diabetic activity on prolonged treatment. Among all the extracts, alcoholic extracts had more significantly reduced the blood glucose level after single dose and nearly equal to standard glibenclamide after prolonged treatment. Keywords

Pongamia pinnata Linn were evaluated by determination of urine volume, electrolyte concentration and diuretic potency in male albino rats. Different concentrations of petroleum ether, and methanol extract (250 mg/kg, 500mg/kg) were orally administered to hydrated rats and their urine out put was immediately measured after 5 h of treatment. Furosamide (10 mg/kg) was used as reference drug while normal saline (0.9%) solution was used as control. The petroleum ether extract exhibited dose dependent diuretic property. The onset of diuretic action was extremely prompt (within 1h) and lasted through out the studied period (upto 5h). The ethanol and petroleum ether extracts caused marked increase in Na+., K+ and Cl- level. The result of this experiment suggests that Pongamia pinnata Linn leaves extracts possessed significant diuretic activity in rats. Keywords

The compounds have been characterized on the basis of preliminary methods, spectral data and tested for anti-inflammatory activity and compared with standard drug as per the standard drug rat hind paw edema method by using Plethesimograph and analgesic activity by Eddies-hotplate method. Among the derivatives prepared, few showed the moderate activity and few showed decreased activity.

The results have shown that the Aryloxy-4-thiazolidinone derivatives are found to be effective anti-bacterial agents. The synthesized compounds were elucidated by spectral data. By analysis of IR, NMR and MASS spectral data the compounds reveals the successful information of Aryloxy-4-thiazolidinone derivatives. The synthesized compounds were screened for their anti-bacterial activities by using standard as ampicilin and are found to be effective chemotherapeutic agent. The synthesis of Thiazolidinones by the described methods resulted in the products with good yield. Keywords

Pyrazoline derivatives are found to be chemotherapeutically active and they are found to possess anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and analgesic activities. The objective of the dissertation work is to synthesize and characterization of 3,5-di-substituted pyrazolines and also to study their anti-bacterial activities. The method followed to synthesize 3,5 di-substituted pyrazolines are as follows: The results have shown that the 3,5 di-substituted pyrazoline derivatives are found to be effective anti-bacterial agents. The synthesized compounds were elucidated by spectral data. By analysis of IR, NMR and MASS spectral data the compounds reveals the successful information of 3,5-di-substituted pyrazolines and also about different aromatic groups at position 3 and 5.The synthesized compounds were screened for their anti-bacterial activities by using standard as ampicillin and are found to be effective chemotherapeutic agent. The synthesis of pyrazolines by the described methods resulted in the products with good yield. Keywords
